Divas Determine to Deliver!
There is nothing more meaningful than the woman in your life! I am known by many as a mother, sister, aunt, friend, mall manager, a motivational speaker and an author. But the best of me is in being a DAUGHTER to the incredible woman that I affectionately call "Mother". She is incredible because she has always demonstrated great stength in raising her children, grandchildren and the thousands of sick children on the pediatrics floor of Hillcrest Hospital during her 33 year career as a nurse in Tulsa,
Oklahoma. She cared for her own mother until the very moment Big Mama released her last breath and transcended to her heavenly home, and she cares today for my Dad as he continues to fight his personal health battles.
Determined to thrive not merely survive... Yet none of this compares to that day eight years ago when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and decided "she wasn't done yet" on this earth and had more living, caring and loving to do. She is a SURVIVOR, and a DIVA!!!
So it is in HER honor that I share my love for her with my love for riding my motorcycle, "Suga Baby", as I rode from Los Angeles to Florida, to raise funds for Divas For A Cure.
Summer 2006, Divas For A Cure took to the road, traveling from the San Francisco Bay Area to Florida, to
New York and back, raising funds and awareness to aid in the fight to find a cure for Breast Cancer. Divas For A Cure was founded by Jan Emanuel, also known as "Sunny", another Strong Surviving Diva. A breast cancer and stroke survivor and mother, Sunny is the sunshine that rises in the morning with hope and a mission for the dawn of another day for other women. Riding her Harley has become more than just a past-time. It has become a vehicle of passion to help spread the word, and enlighten other people, especially women, about this disease which does not discriminate, having no respect of age, sex, race or origin. On this ride WE ride for our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, countless strangers and ourselves!
Thousands of women annually are diagnosed with breast cancer. One of the reasons I supported this ride because NONE of the funds donated on this site will be used to fund the bikers expenses while traveling on this ride. We were responsible for our own personal expenses (food, gas, lodging, etc.). THAT is what supporting a cause and finding a cure is all about. So YOU now know your donation is going directly to where it will impact the lives of those in need.
"We Can, We Will"... the Buffalo Soldiers have a motto, We Can, We Will. As a member of the Buffalo Soldier Motorcycle Club of CA, we would like to (and we WILL) help change those statistics... by supporting Divas For A Cure. Your contribution will help to meet our goal!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
