A.J. stands for Anson Jeremiah, which means "of Divine origin, set apart by God." We wanted his name to express what we believe - that our son is truly a gift from God and that his life has a purpose.

A.J. was born in July 2004 - the youngest of 4 children and our only son. He has blessed our family in ways we could never have expected. A.J. has not only opened our eyes and our hearts and given us a new perspective, but he has expanded our horizons. He is very outgoing and we are always meeting new people because of him. We affectionately call A.J. "the Mayor."

A.J. received home-based therapies until just before his 4th birthday. He also participated in integrated swim lessons and play programs at the YMCA. A.J. has attended Sunday School at our church with his typical peers since he was 2. He attended a typical preschool at age 3. At age 4 he began receiving his services at DDI and attended the integrated 4 year old preschool program there. A.J. is currently in First Grade at our local elementary school.

A.J.'s hard work to overcome daily challenges (almost always with a smile) is an inspiration! We love you, A.J.!!!
