Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Last February my friend Gavin was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. He has been through a lot in the last year, but the thing about him is he's always kept a smile on his face the whole time. One year later he is still going thru chemo treatments and fighting the disease one day at a time. He is one of the bravest and most extraordinary boys I know, and I'm proud to be his friend.
This year I will be playing in the Kyle’s Kamp Memorial Day Baseball Tournament to raise money to help children in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s National Medical Center. We are playing in honor of 7-year-old Kyle Hahne, who was diagnosed with Leukemia in October 2010, as well as the hundreds of other children undergoing cancer treatment at Children’s National. This is the same place that Gavin goes for his treatments.
The goal of this baseball tournament is to raise money and awareness to help these children fighting cancer. Your donations will go directly to Children's National Medical Center, so that together we can make a difference in local pediatric cancer patient care. My goal is to raise at least $2,500 to help kick cancers butt.
Did you know:
- Pedidatric cancer is the #1 disease killer of children in the United States.
- The FDA has only approved one new drug for ANY pediatric cancer in the last 20 years.
-The National Cancer Institute allocates only 4% of its $5.1 billion budget to pediatric cancer research.
- The American Cancer Society dedicates less than 1% of its $1 billion in public revenues to pediatric cancer research.
By playing in this tournament I am showing support for Gavin and all kids undergoing cancer treatment. I hope that you will join me in this effort! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. Please forward to anyone you know that might be interested in supporting our cause.
Thank you for making a gift, and for the hope you give to kids at Children’s National.
