Alicia Balestrino's Fundraising Page
Hi everyone. It's that time of year again! I am raising money for the 16th Annual Lupus Walk which is taking place at Eisenhower Park on Sunday Oct. 18th.
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus at the age of 16 and have been living with this illness ever since. Though I have had some rough times, overall I have been very lucky. Many are not.
While at Hofstra I became part of an incredible group of girls who I am lucky to have as friends. I soon found out that Christine, one of my sorority sisters, also suffers from this same disease and has gone through many tough times of her own. We began walking as a group in this event over ten years ago now. Year after year our friends continue to show up in support of Christine and I. It is a tradition that I have grown to love and it never fails to touch my heart.
With your help last year we managed to raise over $11,000. A truly amazing feat. We are looking to break that record this year so please, anything you can give would be greatly apprecited.
I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful group of family and friends. It is your love and support that has helped me through my toughest times. Thank you all for everything that you do and for being such an improtant part of my life.
And Phi Sig I look foward to seeing you girls at the walk!
