An Alabama Angel
Greetings,
If you are viewing this page you have somehow been introduced to our world of Angelman Syndrome. This is a rare genetic disorder that causes neurological problems and severe developmental delays. The occurance of this disorder is believed to be an estimate of between 1 in 15,000 to 1 in 30,000 births
Angelman affects the everyday activities of people diagnosised with it and they will require constant care for the rest of their lives. Ashley is a happy and outgoing child who leaves a lasting impression on everyone she meets with her big grin and energetic personaity.
We would like to thank all of our family and friends who have helped us through the difficult and good times since 2004 when we originally recieved her diagnosis. While it may not have always been easy, it helps to have the continuous support of family and friends like yourself.
In 2006 we hosted Birmingham's first Walk (the foundation's 8th) and we are getting ready for our 2nd annual Birmingham Walk-A-Thon on May 19, 2007 at UAB's Mini Park. We had a great time on last year with clowns, fire trucks, and fun filled activities, and we look foward to seeing all of our friends again on May 19, 2007.
