Alisa Wilson Tangredi's Fundraising Page
My sister, Alena Kathleen Wilson, was an incredible musician. She played the piano, flute, concert harp, guitar, drums and later played base guitar in a Los Angeles based alternative rock band. She started in her public school orchestra and her incredible talent was allowed to bloom until the beginning of high school when budget cuts to the music program ended that opportunity. As an adult, she became an ardent supporter of keeping music programs available to children. She believed strongly that music is as valuable a part of a child's education as math or history.
On January 5, 2007, Alena passed away after a battle with Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 39. It was her desire that, if people wished to, donations be made to ensure that music remained a resource for children -- that talent be nurtured, encouraged and allowed to flourish. Since that time, many of you have donated to Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation in her memory. It is my desire to continue that spirit of giving.
