Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for the first annual Freaky 5K Fun Run & Walk!

Last Saturday, eighty hardy people came out in support of Hardy Girls programming, despite weather more appropriate for a Halloween horror flick than an outdoor event.  Clad in costumes funny, creative, and scary, participants helped us in our mission to rid Halloween of marketers' overly sexualized costumes.  You helped us bring scary back!

One of our favorite creative costumes was that of Hardy Girls' Americorps VISTA, Marissa L. Bond, shown at left.  Marissa spent hours on her costume of a dreamcatcher for scary dreams.  She describes the significance of her costume: The idea of the dreamcatcher is a metaphorical embodiment of Hardy Girls’ work.  We must continue to work to create a space where girls may live free of any obstacles, often scary in nature, that might hinder their healthy development.  We must encourage girls to move forth proactively in an effort to successfully achieve their dreams.

We raised an amazing amount of money-- over $6,000-- through the event, and we're less than $1,000 away from our goal of $7,000 dollars raised.  Can you help us reach our goal by Halloween?

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure.  You already helped us bring scary and creativity back to Halloween.  Now help us keep it going-- because when girls' options are unlimited, the things they will do, create, and become are not scary at all-- they're amazing.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate, too!  Happy Halloween!
