June 21st is already my favorite day of 2012.
Why?
Well, it's the beginning of summer, it's the day before my 25th birthday, and most importantly: it's the annual Dance Your Cash Off fundraiser for 826 Seattle.
"Dance your what off??" you ask?
You heard me. Cash.
You see, 826 Seattle, a non-profit writing and tutoring center dedicated to familiarizing kids with the written word, is no ordinary organization. When they host a fundraiser, they do it in style. And since I'm a huge fan and a sometime volunteer, I'm doing it with 'em. To make sure that another inspirational year of creative poetry and brilliant storytelling at 826 continues (and to ring in the early hours of my 25th), I'll be dancing in a 5-hour dance marathon. The goal is help sustain after-school writing workshops, fieldtrips to outer space, and the many not-yet famous young authors being published by 826.
The catch? I can't participate unless I raise at least $150.
Will you help me support an organization I care deeply about and chip in a few dollars so I can dance? I can't imagine a better birthday present!
Thank you!
