Hello!
My name is Althea Pisinski. I have lived in Durham, New Hampshire for over the past 30 years. My husband Victor and I will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary this fall! We have two wonderful children Brett and Larisa.
I was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease 11 years ago. Massachusetts General Hospital’s Movement Disorder Clinic provides me with care and continues to be an important center for HD research. Great strides have been made since the discovery of the Huntington’s gene in 1993. We continue to be hopeful that there will be a cure for HD so that future generations may never have to face this disease.
As a result of my diagnosis, my family and friends have become active members of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA). Participation in events, (especially the Awareness Walks), have been incredibly useful in both educating the public about HD and raising funds for research. Every dollar counts and we are so thankful and overwhelmed by your support each year!
This year’s walk will take place on Saturday, September 22nd at the University of New Hampshire in Durham. We are very grateful to the UNH Department of Recreation along with the UNH Women's and Men's Rowing teams for their continued support. This event could not happen without their participation and rousing encouragement!
My family and I thank you for your caring and generosity. I hope to see you at the walk on the 22nd of September so I can express my appreciation in person!
MANY thanks,
Althea and Family (Victor & Brett Pisinski, Larisa & Jordan Makow)
