Alyssa Truman's Fundraising Page
The Pittsburgh 1/2 Marathon is going to be held on May 2nd and a local resident, Alyssa Truman has decided to make her running count for something. Calling it, Running 4 Reading, she is working with Bernice Crouse, Director of the Franklin County Library System to raise funds for children and Young Adult materials for the libraries in Franklin County.
Alyssa lives in Greencastle Pa and is new to running having never run before May 2nd. To improve her health and be an example to her kids and others around her she decided to take on the challenge of running the 1/2 marathon, which is 13.1 miles. One day while running she decided to make the training pay off in another way and immediately thought of fundraising for the libraries.
"I came up with the idea of Running 4 Reading and immediately called Bernice Crouse." Alyssa said,"The idea is to get people to donate $13.10 since I will be running 13.1 miles. This money will be used to help supply the libraries with new stuff for the children and youth of our community. With all the budget cuts I felt it was time for us to show how much we value our libraries by giving back to them."
You can donate by going to firstgiving.org/Running4Reading. Alyssa's goal is to get 100 people to donate $13.10 each or more each for a total of $1,310.00.
