Hey everyone,

It’s that time of year again, let the fundraising begin!!! Many of you know about my beautiful niece Izzy so we wont go into detail again this year. But here is a little update my sister wrote:

I am excited to announce that the NKF has invited me to be a part of the planning committee because my team has been dedicated to the program for four years and last year we raised over $7000.00. Last year our fundraiser event at Fischman’s Liquors (4780 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago 60630) was a HUGE success so we will be having one there again this year.

Fischmans will be "Jammin in the lot" on June 4th to help raise money for the "Gift of Life Walk". So mark your calendars now!!!! Great raffles, food and live entertainment!

Many of you already now Izabelles story but if not here is a little about what we have been through over the years....

My daughter Izabelle was diagnosed with a Solitary Kidney in August 2007 just 3 days after she was born, if that wasn’t enough, we found out eleven days later she was in kidney failure. She has had weeks of dialysis, 9 surgeries and countless amounts of blood work, cat scans, ultrasounds, doctor visits, hospital stays and emergency room visits. Izabelle’s last surgery was over a year ago but we still face obstacles with her. She is very tiny compared to any other 3.5yr old. She now sees a hormone specialist on top of the Nephrologists a few times a year to monitor her growth and kidney function. The lastest obstacle is Izabelles thyroid is beginning to act up and we now go monthly to the doctor to have it monitored. We are praying it fixes itself because treatment is very extreme and dangerous for her. For everything she has gone through she is a very happy, lovable, energetic little girl. Izabelle will be a big sister in July and some of the kidney issues that she has faced can happen to the baby also, because of this we will be taking extra precautions when the baby is born until we can do further testing.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated in helping me achieve my goal of raising $8000.00. All proceeds from this event will directly benefit the NKF of IL. The money raised goes to help fund the Kidney Mobile, a custom mobile exhibit offering free prevention education and health screenings for high blood pressure, diabetes and chronic kidney disease to Illinois communities. Some of the money also goes towards summer camps and programs for children with kidney disease. Its nice knowing programs like this is available if we need them one day.
