Miles of Change
Help Our Students Get Published in the Guinness Book of World Records And Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Lincoln Penny!
When lots of people, doing their small part, come together; they have the collective power to create miles of change.
And during the first quarter of 2009, THINK Together's 35,000 students will learn what that's all about, first-hand, when we undertake to create "Miles of Change."
Here's how this works …
From now until Wednesday, March 25, 2009, THINK Together's students, staff, volunteers and supporters will be collecting pennies - more than 8,448,800 pennies in all.
Then, in the afternoon on March 25th, at NASCAR's Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, our students will lay down a contiguous chain of pennies that loops the race track 50 times to create a 100-mile chain of pennies.
And what better time than "The Year of Lincoln" to undertake such a project? Because enroute to creating "Miles of Change" our students will be celebrating the bicentennial of President Abraham Lincoln's birth; and with our 100 miles, honoring the 100th Anniversary of the introduction of the first Lincoln penny.
