Dear Loyal Dog Lovers,

My name is Murray and I am a 3 year old basset boy that needs your help.  I spent the first two years of my life outside, unloved and unwanted.  It was during that time that I must have contracted this nasty disease called Heartworms.  Well my irresponsible owner must have known about this because he dumped me at BARC to be euthanized.  I had this terrible cough and could never fully catch my breath.  Thankfully, the kind folks at Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas heard about this and rushed to save me from a premature death. 

By the time Basset Buddies rescued me, the Heartworms had already done irreversible damage to both my heart and lungs.  BBR treated the Heartworms and I currently test negative, but the damage has been done and I am left with an enlarged heart and severe lung damage.  My sweet foster mom has to keep my mouth wiped because I constantly have black stuff coming out of my lungs and sometimes I cough so hard, I feel like I need to take a rest.  Although some days are harder than others, I love life....and SNAUSAGES!!!   My time is not up.  In fact, the vet told my foster mom today that I may have a good two years ahead of me! 

It cost Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas over $100 a month in medication and on top of that, when I have a bad couple of days, I have to go to the vet and get expensive stuff like X-Rays.  Please help contribute to my cause.  I know nothing can correct the damage that has been done, but I deserve a good, comfortable quality of life my last few years.  After all, I am only 3 years old!!
