Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
My husband, Chris, is a Stage III Melanoma survivor, as well as a Papillary Thyroid Cancer survivor. We are excited to be participating in the first annual Miles for Melanoma 5K Run/Walk in St. Paul, MN on Saturday, August 11, 2012.
Melanoma is a very aggressive form of cancer, and is the most serious and deadly form of skin cancer. Chris was fortunate enough to be followed by the Mayo Clinic, a leading cancer research institution, and be seen by a melanoma specialist. His oncologist sees patients, but a main part of his job is research. This research needs to continue in order to make any strides in melanoma. Unfortunately, melanoma is a very under-funded cancer, but the Melanoma Research Foundation raises money for grants to help fund research. I hope that we will never need a new drug personally (hopefully the disease is gone for good in our family), but melanoma is on the rise, and people need more and better options for treatment and prevention.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
