Amanda's "Racing To Register" Fundraising
Dear Friends,
I have teamed up with Racing to Register (RTR) to complete the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon on June 24, 2012.
RTR was started in 2009 in order to inspire people to join the Be The Match Registry® (formerly National Bone Marrow Donor Registry) by Tom Kramer, as his wife Pam has a form of Leukemia and needs a donor. Pam and Tom are my age.
I feel so strongly about this cause. I think, "what if I needed a bone marrow transplant and couldn't find a match?" I would want to know that people were out there raising awareness and working to add more donors to the database. I have obviously registered and hope that I get a call someday saying that I am a match for somebody. Imagine being able to help save a person's life!
RTR’s mission is to increase the number of potential donors on the Be The Match Registry. RTR also creates awarness on the need to increase the number of potential marrow, stem cell and cord blood donors, using endurance sports as our platform. RTR provides inspiration, hope and healing by matching patients with potential donors.
Also, the RTR Cares program was established to grant “wishes” to parents, children, and families who are staying at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. The goal is to attempt to ease this burden, and to provide a temporary escape to a place of choice, whether it’s to a concert, sporting event, or dinner at a nice restaurant.
Please make a donation to sponsor me and help this important cause.
All my best and thank you,
Amanda
