Carter Mansfield (Warwick/Robertson)
Welcome to that time of year for the 2012 Autism Project Walk! The walk is April 29th at Goddard Park.
At school: This year Carter entered kindergarten at Robertson Elementary in Warwick. He is now writing his first name independently and telling us what is happening during the school day. (with some creative prompting of course!) He is working on understanding concepts of time (yesterday, last week, tomorrow) and time telling on a clock. He is bringing home evidence of his increasing his level of comprehension when reading as well.
At home: Spongebob is king. All things Transformer and "battle guy" along with some aliens reign as favorites still. He continues to be a fabulous helper to mommy with many things such as putting away laundry baskets, carrying in groceries and emptying the vacumn cleaner.
At Autism Project : Carter attended camp in the summer of 2011 and had a BLAST. He is already asking to go back! He also continues to participate in Karate (LOVE SENSEI MIKE!) and Leaps & Bounds social group, This year it was brought up that he should be ready to "move up/over" to Social Thinking group for the next session.
These updates on Carter continue to be positive due in HUGE part to The Autism Project. This organization's continued support and education for Carter, his family and educators in the state makes his quality of life and prospects shine to their full potential. Times are tough for everyone. This organization helps us to make some of our times bearable and better. Whether you are able to help for a contribution of $5 or $100, please know your support is appreciated!
