Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Well, it is that time of year again. Spring is here and the Bocce season has officially started. I am very excited to be coaching and refereeing for Special Olympics in my 3rd season. I have a great team this year and we are looking forward to the practices, tournaments, and the Summer Games in June 2009.
For those of you who want to know the story of how I got involved with Special Olympics Southern California Santa Clarita, please visit www.firstgiving.com/amirkazemzadeh.
I am also participating in the "Solar Plunge" again... actually last year it was the "Polar Plunge". We had some issues with using the name this year; not to mention it doesn't get to cold in May/June in Santa Clarita. This year is a little different than last year... we aren't plunging every hour for 25 hours. Instead, this is a half day event with 13 plunges on Friday, June 5th from 10:00am to 11:00pm. The venue will be the same as last year... Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in beautiful Santa Clarita, California.
What is the purpose of the Solar Plunge 2009? The Solar Plunge is a fundraising event where participants plunge into the Hurricane Harbor Wave Pool every hour. Last year, I set a goal of $2,500... and with all of the generous donations from friends and family, I exceeded my fundraising goal by raising over $2,700.
Due to the current economic conditions, my fundraising goal is set at a very achievable $1,000. Again, I am asking and challenging my friends, family members, business clients, and anyone else you can think of to help me reach and beat my goal of $1,000. The donations from the fundraiser will go towards the Santa Clarita Special Olympics program and assist the athletes in ways such as paying for uniforms and equipment, providing transportation to the tournaments, and providing year-round training. Please help me in supporting this cause.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising site and for any dontations that you can make. If you would like to volunteer for or become a part of the Special Olympics program, please contact me or visit www.sosc.org.
