Dear family and friends,

An estimated 57 million children in India suffer from malnutrition and hunger. Akshaya Patra, a truly amazing non-profit in India is working hard to change the lives of these children and to put an end to the cycle of poverty.  By providing mid-day school meals to children, Akshaya Patra helps address malnutrition and promotes education for unprivileged children in order to help them have a bright future.  Akshaya Patra firmly and passionately believes that no child should be denied equitable access to food and education and uses an innovative model to cook and distribute meals at a low cost of less than 13 cents per meal; as such, $28 feeds one child for one year. 

I support the incredible mission of this organization and have helped to plan this walk-a-thon.  I am walking to help end child hunger in India and in the world.  I truly hope that Akshaya Patra reaches its mission and its goal to feed 1,000,000 children by 2010.
