Since 1999 I have taken the plunge for Special Olympics Illinois. From 1999 until 2005 I plunged alone but in 2006 after the birth of our daughter Larkin, TEAM LARKIN was created. Larkin Murphy Armstrong is 3 years old and was diagnosed with Down Syndrome, Infantile Spams and Lennox-Gastuat catastrophic seizure syndromes.
Every year we add more team members to plunge for the Special Olympics of Illinois. TEAM LARKIN 2008 had over 125 plungers and in 2009 we hope to have over 150!!!
Since 2006 TEAM LARKIN has raised over $53,000 for the Special Olympics!! It is a great way to involve our community and our children directly in the lives of those who have developmental challenges. All proceeds collected by plungers benefit Special Olympics Illinois athletes.
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities by giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
