“When you are inspired by some great purpose, your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you discover yourself to be a far greater person than you ever dreamed yourself to be.” - Patanjali
This June, I’ve dared myself to take on the personal challenge of doing as much yoga as I possibly can in one month in Karma Krew’s Peace by Peace Nationwide Yogathon. I will be joining yogis from around the country in raising awareness and funds to bring yoga to underserved populations all over our nation. If you’ve ever experienced a yoga class for yourself, you can understand why the peace and inner stillness that comes from the practice would be such an incredible gift to share with someone who couldn’t otherwise afford it: like an abused child, a battered woman, an HIV+ patient, or an elderly person in a nursing home. With our efforts, we’ll be able to share the gift of yoga with so many in hopes of restoring the human spirit in an increasingly cynical world. I have a big task in front of me, but I am hoping together with your help, we can meet my goal. Please sponsor me:
- Pledge $20 – this buys yoga mats for two children participating in Karma Krew’s shelter outreach work.
- Pledge $50 – this supports a certified yoga teacher to bring yoga classes to a needy population, like battered women, for one week.
- Pledge $75 – this furnishes a local Community Karma Krew with all the training materials they’ll need to run community outreach programs for an entire year in their community.
- Pledge $200 – this brings yoga into an unconventional facility like a hospital or nursing home for an entire month.
- Pledge another amount: Every cent helps.
All proceeds go to support the yoga-based non-profit Karma Krew. Karma Krew mobilizes the yoga community to take the insights revealed on the mat and turn them into purposeful action in the world. In the last year alone, Karma Krew’s network of yogis contributed hundreds of volunteer hours in over 30 cities nationwide, bringing greater authenticity to this ancient practice in studios all across the country. They’ve also organized disaster-relief outreach programs, including serving nearly 1,000 Hurricane Katrina Victims with yoga and relaxation after displacement from their homes. And they started yoga-based empowerment programs in places such as prisons, children’s shelters, hospitals, and more. Learn more at www.karmakrew.org. And thank you for your support in reaching my goal! Together, we can make a difference…Peace by Peace!
