My name is Faith Grace Miles!  I am a CHERUB!  I was born on March 6, 2008.  My parents found out that I had a diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) when I was 20 weeks in utero. Within a week my Aunt Jen had told them about this site CHERUBS that was a support group for families of children with CDH.  My parents researched CDH, joined the support group, and found an amazing set of doctors at the University of Michigan Motts Children's Hospital that will take care of me!  At U of M I was involved in a clinical research trial that used perfluberon to help my lungs expand. I hope that they will learn how to help other CDH babies with this study. I was on ECMO for 18 days and had my repair at day 15 of life. My organs couldn't fit inside my body so I had a silo. After I got off of ECMO I had severe pulmonary hypertension, a blood clot, and problems with fluid leaking from my silo. I fought so hard and the doctors tried everything they could, but in the end it was my time to visit heaven.  My mom, dad, grandpa Grace, and grandma Miles were able to hold me before I left this worldly planet.  I left with a smile on my face and peace in my heart.

So many people have helped my mom and dad through these scary times.   Prayers and support for me have amazed my parents!  The communities have really reached out to help them. Now they want to give back and need your help.  CHERUBS has been a great source of knowledge and a place of healing for my parents.  They have talked to people from all over the United States and even in other countries to learn more about my congenital defect.  All CDH parents agree that increasing awareness and funding for research is a top priority.
