Another year has passed, another year of missing our Maddeson and another year of the return of Team Madd Dash to the Flapjack 5k/10k (formerly Run, Rock and Stroll). For the third year running (pun intended), Team Madd Dash will be in Des Moines at Waterworks Park on September 11, 2011 honoring the memory of Maddeson, our brave little girl who fought with bravery and courage for 7 months, until she earned her angel wings on August 21, 2009.
I've set Team Madd Dash's fundraising goal at $4000 again this year! What I didn't think was possible last year, became reality...all because of YOU...our friends, our family and our continued supporters! Since 2009, Team Madd Dash has raiased just over $6,000! By hitting our fundrasing goal this year, Team Madd Dash will have raised over $10,000 in 3 years! What an amazing tribute to Maddeson, our angel and rainbow maker!
By supporting Team Madd Dash and the Childrens Cancer Connection, you are impacting the lives of children who are battling this awful disease. Children's Cancer Connection provides many programs for children and their families facing cancer. The Beads for Bravery program and the Children's Cancer Camp are just 2 of the many programs they offer. If you remember, after Run Rock and Stroll 2 years ago (2009), Maddeson went to camp in Boone, IA. We dropped her off on Sunday and I was picking her up by Monday (she was very homesick, but who could blame her...I had not left her side since January 25, 2009, when she was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma). But my brave little girl decided she wanted to go back, so she headed back to camp on Thursday and stayed until the end. She had the most awesome time when she went back. The counselors said she was a completely different kid...laughing, playing, having fun with her new friends, and she was certainly not missing me! I am so thankful that Maddeson was able to experience camp before she earned her wings . She came home saying that she was going to go to camp every year and was going to become a camp counselor when she was old enough. She sure enjoyed herself and I'd give anything to be dropping her off at Survivorship camp every year...but she can only be there in spirit, watching over her friends and camp counselors that she formed such an unforgettable bond with.
Without support from donors like you, through events such as the Flapjack 5k/10k (Run, Rock & Stroll), these programs would not be possible. One of the best aspects of this organization is that 100% of the funds raised stay in Iowa! All children served by Children's Cancer Connection either live in Iowa, are treated in Iowa, or were diagnosed in Iowa.
Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Most importantly, thank you for making a difference in the lives of children who are battling cancer and for helping us keep Maddeson's spirit and memories alive by donating to our page!
God Bless,
