Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (Cure)

Chicago, IL | EIN: 36-4253176

Description: CURE is an nonprofit organization which raises money to fund innovative research geared toward finding a cure for uncontrolled seizure disorders, or epilepsy.

Mission: CURE, founded in 1998 by parents of children with uncontrolled seizures, grew out of these parents' frustration with watching their children fail all existing therapies. It is a little known fact that at least 30% of the 2.5 million Americans with epilepsy are not controlled with current treatment options, and that 75% of epilepsy begins in childhood. The effects of intractable epilepsy on children and families are devastating, robbing children of vital cognitive development and social fulfillment. This often leads to a life of dependency on others and a shortened life expectancy. The best solution is to advance medical research, and to that end CURE funds innovative research into curing epilepsy.
