My grandfather had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). I remember how he struggled to breathe and the impact the disease had on his life. Despite his difficult struggle, he was one of the most caring and loving people that I have ever met. He eventually lost his battle with COPD but the impact that he made in the lives of those who knew him will live on.
COPD affects as many as 24 million Americans, but most people don't even know what it is or that they may be at risk.
I've known for some time that tackling the goal of running a full marathon (26.2 miles!) was something I wanted to do...but I didn't want to do it for myself. I wanted this challenging goal to mean something. That is why I have decided to run the Rock N' Roll Marathon in Savannah, Georgia on November 3rd in memory of my Grandpa and fundraise for the COPD foundation.
The mission of the COPD Foundation is to develop and support programs which improve the quality of life through research, education, early diagnosis, and enhanced therapy for persons whose lives are impacted by Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
Please join me in supporting this great cause that is close to my heart. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. All donations to the COPD Foundation are tax deductible.
Many thanks for your support.
