My dad and I joined the Police Unity Tour(PUT) for the first time last May, 2007.  A friend of ours had shared with us his experience with the PUT and what the PUT was about: a 250+ mile bike ride from Portsmouth, Virginia to Washington DC over 3 days dedicated in honor to those officers killed in the line of duty and to raise funds to create the National Law Enforcement Officer's Museum in Washington DC. A friend succeeded in gaining our interest, and we are so glad he did.  Joining the PUT was an enriching and satisfying experience for both of us

    The bike ride began with nearly 250 officers on the first day and grew to over 1,000 riders on the third day, as our teams and paths combined into one upon entering Washington DC.  The following night was the Candlelight Vigil, where our role as PUT riders was to greet those friends and families of officers killed.  Our brief but memorable interactions left lasting impression on our hearts and also served as a reminder of the sacrifice made by officers before us and around us.

    From the companionship of the 1,000 officers pedaling along side of us, to experiencing the Memorial Service in Washington DC we agreed that the PUT was a worthy endeavor and are excited to participate in the PUT again this May, 2008.  Each rider is obligated to raise $1,800.00 by April 15th.  As we are in need of financial support, any donations would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you for your consideration and support!
