This year I am taking on the task of not only training for Ironman Wisconsin, but also raising funds for the Caring For Carcinoid Foundation at the same time.  It is like walking & chewing gum or patting your head & rubbing your belly at the same time.  Two unrelated feats, to achieve the same goal--a successful ending.

Just over 18 months ago my mother was diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer.  I received a phone call from mom, in her hospital bed, asking me to look up carcinoid cancer.  The Caring For Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF) was the best source of information I came across.  They have also been the most active group in the fight against Carcinoid Cancer.  CFCF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to research to discover a cure for carcinoid.  As for mom, we just keep an eye on  and continue to monitor her for symptoms of Carcinoid Syndrome (a clustering of symptoms resulting from activity of the carcinoid cells).
