Please support me as I ride in the 3rd Annual Friends Ride for Neurofibromatosis. If you’ve never heard of Neurofibromatosis, or NF, you might be surprised to hear that it is more prevalent than cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, and Huntington's disease combined. NF is a genetic disorder that can cause uncontrolled tumor growth anywhere in or on a person’s body at any time. NF affects both sexes and all races and ethnic groups equally, and can cause deafness, brain tumors, learning disabilities, disfigurement and cancer.
This is now my 5th year fundraising for Neurofibromatosis, Inc. Northeast, yet fundraising means a lot more to me this year than ever before. This June I had surgery to remove a painful golf ball-sized tumor from under my armpit. While the surgery went well, the pathology report later found the tumor to be cancerous. I am soon starting radiation therapy, and this will be followed by a 2nd surgery and chemotherapy. You can follow my treatment progress by signing up and visiting my CarePage.
To see my CarePage page follow these steps:
1) Visit: http://www.carepages.com/
2) Click on “Visit a CarePage” (My CarePage name is “AndresLessing”)
3) The webpage does ask you to register, but it keeps this information safe.
Despite my diagnosis and upcoming treatment, I plan on fighting this disease and in riding alongside family and friends. I will be joined by my father Miguel, my girlfriend Lindsay, and many others. Please let us know if you would like to participate.
Government funding for NF research has been cut the past few years by over 50%. Your donations will go to promote NF research through the Harvard Center for NF and Allied Disorders (www.cnfad.org).
Your donations do make a difference. Eventually we will find a cure.
A donation of any amount is very much appreciated!
Any donation of $175 or more receives a $50 matching donation!
