On March 16, 2009, at 5 weeks of age, Andrew suffered from a ruptured pseudo aneurysm with right hemispheric cerebrovascular accident (multiple strokes) and subarachnoid hemorrhage. From 3/17/09-4/06/09, Andrew recovered at
Children's Hospital.
During this time he also battled
RSV (respiratory synovial virus).
Andrew's 2nd extended stay (cranioplasty) He is out of surgery and Dr Lew states he did well. The ridges on the front part of the skull will be monitored at follow-up appts and if they fuse, he would need another surgery. The skull growth is dictated by brain growth, so therefore it is a waiting game, due to the volume of brain loss (50%) because of the strokes, etc. He is such a tough guy.
You can read Andrew's full story on his website located HERE, I just want to thank everyone for all the support.
