Walking for Rescue
The folks of Workhorse Interactive (WHI) can be described in any number of ways: They are dedicated and reliable on-demand designers, developers, marketers, network administrators, systems analysts, project managers, and technical support specialists.
They are also avid supporters of causes important to them and their local communities.
As a proud sponsor of Young At Heart Pet Rescue's 2009 Mutt Mosey, Workhorse is pleased to help champion a small nonprofit organization and its labor of love.
Young At Heart: Mission Critical
Formed in 2005 by a core group of volunteers who understand the companionship and contentment that a loving and undemanding older pet can bring, Young At Heart (YAH) rescues, vets, fosters, and rehomes dogs and cats ages 5 and up who would otherwise die in high-kill shelters. To date, the rescue has placed nearly 300 dogs and cats with new families. It also has launched a pet food pantry to help owners in need and founded the Sanctuary of the Heart program to ensure the highest quality of care -- and quality of life -- for YAH pets with terminal or chronic medical conditions that make them virtually unadoptable.
With the economic recession and housing crisis, municipal shelters are continually overcrowded, and pet rescues are at "mission critical." Since Young At Heart currently relies on a small network of volunteer foster homes, increasing its reach means expanding its footprint.
A Safe Haven
Proceeds from this year's Mutt Mosey will bring the rescue one step closer to the purchase of a 10-acre plot of land that will serve as the site of a physical sanctuary where abandoned senior pets could enjoy their golden years in peace, love, and safety, with all the care and attention they could ever want or need. Young At Heart has already received commitments for donations of labor and equipment from its strong community of supporters, so obtaining funds for the land while real estate prices are low can truly make this dream a reality.
Workhorse's Commitment
Young At Heart Pet Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit, so all donations are tax-deductible. Because YAH is all volunteer-run, every dollar donated goes directly to the support of its pets and its mission.
To further encourage donations to this worthy cause, Workhorse is offering its clients the opportunity to show their support while enjoying both a tax credit and a Workhorse credit that not only meets but exceeds their donation.
