SWEET SAMMY HAS PARVO!!
PLEASE HELP FORTE ANIMAL RESCUE SAVE SAMMY'S LIFE ..AGAIN!!
HE HAS ALREADY BEEN SAVED FROM THE STREETS OF LA, THEN DEATH ROW AT THE POUND AND NOW HE NEEDS TO BE SAVED FROM PARVO
SAMMY'S STORY:
ON MONDAY SEPT 14, 2009 SAMMY WAS RESCUED FROM THE POUND AFTER HAVING BEEN BROUGHT IN AS A STRAY.
FINALLY OUT OF THE SCARY POUND SAMMY WENT TO A FOSTER WHO HAD ANOTHER PUP THAT SAMMY INSTANTLY BONDED WITH AND THE TWO OF THEM PLAYED AND PLAYED TOGETHER NON STOP! SAMMY WAS HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE...
THEN.....
ON WEDNESDAY SEPT 16 AFTER ONLY 2 DAYS OF SAMMY BEING RELEASED FROM THE POUND HE BEGAN TO THROW UP.. HIS FOSTER RUSHED HIM TO THE VET WHERE A PARVO TEST CAME BACK....
POSITIVE!!
SAMMY WAS THEN RUSHED TO 24 HOUR EMERGENCY CARE TO BEGIN HIS TREATMENT! HE WILL NEED TO STAY AT THE 24 HOUR CARE HOSPITAL UNTIL HE IS STABILIZED.
FOR THE FIRST NIGHT ALONE IT WILL COST FORTE ANIMAL RESCUE $2,000 WITH AN ESTIMATED TOTAL FOR SAMMY AROUND $4,000-$5,000.

He has had more vomiting and a ton of diarrhea with tape worms. He’s on fluid, and all we can do is to pray that we caught this soon enough. Due to his size, the doctor said we will not know if he’ll survive or not for a couple of days.
We have received extremely helpful information from the community and have spoken with Sammy's vet about trying Tamiflu.

Doctor said Sammy seems "brighter" than yesterday! He last vomited at 5:00am this morning and no vomiting since, however, the diarrhea is still persisting so he will need to stay another night in 24 hour care. Sammy is a fighter and has a love for life and apparantly a love for all his doctors and nurses. As sick as he is, he still tries to greet them with little weak puppy kisses.

Good News..Sammy is not vomiting
Bad News... he has no appetite and won't eat at all. He had appetite yesterday, but none today. Diarrhea still persisting. The doctor will feed him with a syringe and see if he can hold down the food. They cannot say he’s improving but they also said there still is hope.

Sammy is still in the Hospital fighting for his life. His protein counts were very low so the doctors are administering albumin to get his levels up. They feel the other drugs may not be working effectively because of his low protein levels. Doctors feel he has a 50% chance of survival. Please pray, send healing energy, or whatever you can think of to shift the Universe’s energy to work for his sake.

With Tears rolling uncontrollably down my face I write this update on Sammy....
Sammy passed away on the last day of summer at 3 AM. He never knew autumn, winter or spring. It’s hitting us harder than expected... Maybe because we all looked forward to watching him play and grow and live the life he truly deserved but never got to see. Maybe it was the way he loved everyone he met and wasn't afraid to show it or maybe it was his love of life even though he spent most of his in a kennel at a cold scary shelter. I think Sammy could have taught us humans a thing or two about life.
Please know that we didn't prolong his life in anyway we only did what we have done in the past which resulted in a much happier ending. Nothing more and Nothing less.
His vet bill has not yet been completed but as of 8:00am Saturday 9/20 it was at $4,316.00 so we are looking at a bill over $5,000! Please keep spreading the word and help us with contributions, so that we can save other lives ...in memory of Sammy.
