Hi, my name is Angelo Maloney, I am twelve years old, and I was born with a congential heart defect. This is one of the most common birth defects in the world. When my parents found out that I was born with a heart defect, they were scared and worried. My mom was scared because right when I was born the doctors took me away, and she was the only one without a new baby. I was taken to another hospital right away for my first open heart surgery. So far I have been through three open heart surgeries, but I know there is more to come in the future. My cardiologist recommended a camp for heart defect kids called Camp Taylor. I have been going every year since I was a six, and I love it. The camp is a week long, there is so much to do. You make arts and crafts, swim, play games, sing songs, climb rock walls, do zip lines, ride horses, and much more. This camp is the only place where I don't feel left out because people know what I have been through. This is the only place that I feel comfortable taking my shirt off because of my scar, we all have the same scars. When I first come to camp it is cool because everyone says, "Hey Angelo!" or just a quick greeting. I have meet so many great friends over the years. I think that is cool because I know that I have friends like me from around the United States, I don't feel so alone with my heart disease. When I get picked up I don't want to leave. I have been having so much fun because all of the staff there are really cool, and so are the things that we do. If I never had this camp then I wouldn't know anyone with a heart defect. If this camp went away I would be heart broken. This camp is so much fun I would never want it to go away. This is a free camp for kids with heart defects, this year the camp is having a hard time getting donations. That is why I am trying to raise money this year. I have been able to go to this camp for free for the past six years and I would like to help in any way I can. The price for one camper to come to this camp is $800. Thank you!

 

***UPDATE*** I have done it again! I made my goal of the second time! This is so amaxing, thank you for everyone who helped. I cannot believe that I got almost $2,000! I will keep this site open for any other donators. Thanks again for all that help!
