Running for Rashmi!
Hello Friends and Family,
On June 27th, my brother-in-law Mike and I will be running in the "Rock and Roll Seattle Half Marathon." This will be my 3rd half marathon, which I am really getting addicted to, but what makes this one different is my focus. I am joining Team World Vision, a branch of World Vision (a humanitarian non-profit organization), who help athletes dedicate their races by raising awareness and funds for some of the world's most vulnerable children.
One of these children is Rashmi Horo, our sponser child in India. She is a beautiful 9 year old girl who wants to be a nurse when she grows up. We write to her often and she always writes back with such gratefulness and love. Such thanks from a small child for a gift that seems so insignificant to us, has brought an awareness that we never had before.
It is my goal to raise $1500, which will not only provide Rashmi with food and the health care she needs, but will also help provide her with an education. She wrote us a letter late last year and thanked us for being her sponser. She told us that her village had just received clean drinking water (through World Vision workers) and believes that we had some part in this because we sponser her and care for her. We sure felt special!
World Vision is an awesome organization which we have been supporting for four years now and will continue for years to come. You can support my efforts through Team World Vision by making a one-time tax-deductible donation or even go so far as to support a child of your own. It has been an incredible experience for our family as we continually realize just how blessed we are and how we can bless others who are not as fortunate, but loved by our heavenly father just the same.
Sincerely yours,
Angie Fields
