LIVING WATER INTERNATIONAL

Running for Hannah's Hope

Running for Hannah's Hope

Hi everyone!  In 2007, I went to Nicaragua with Living Water International to drill a well for a primary school without clean drinking water.  The experience changed how I view this everyday necessity.  Living Water International is involved in projects all over the world bringing the gift of life to people in need.

In response to this need, I am planning to run 100 miles of races in this next year to raise money for Hannah's Hope (more on Hannah's Hope below).  I will be praying for no injuries, so that I'll be able to complete this task that I feel called to participate in.

These funds have been set aside for drilling in Kwedigole.  The last thing I heard is that drilling was supposed to begin at the end of Feb... so exciting!!!!

The adventure began with the Army 10-Miler on 4 Oct 08.  It was a beautiful day and I came in under my goal time at 1:29:47... YAY!

The Marine Corps Marathon (26.2 mi) was on 26 Oct 08.  It was such a gorgeous day!  The crowds were fabulous and I made it through in 4:31:37.  Thanks for your prayers!  They definitely pulled me through. :)

The Richmond Half was on 15 Nov 08.  It was a decent day for running and I made it through... barely. :)  I was about to die on the last 4 miles.  That was my fault though since I ran only once between the Marine Corps and this race.  I was trying to get in under 2 hours, but made it in 2:02.  I am so happy I actually ran the whole time because I really wanted to stop! :)

The National Marathon was on 21 Mar 09... I didn't feel as prepared for this as I did for the Marine Corps.  I was actually very worried that I wouldn't even finish it, but I ended up finishing in 4:21:18.  I couldn't believe it!  God is good! :)

Here are some of the other races that I have already registered for: Cherry Blossom 10 Miler, GW Parkway 10 Miler.  This brings me to 95 miles... I am on the lookout for another fun race.

What is Hannah's Hope?

Hannah's Hope is a volunteer chapter of Living Water International committed to providing clean water and the Gospel to the people of Tanzania.  Lance Whyle is the project developer and began his service to the people of Tanzania in 2004.  Over 24 projects have already been completed providing water to over 75,000 people and there are 9 projects scheduled for Oct/Nov that will provide for 30,000 more.  For more information on Hannah's Hope, go to www.water4tz.com.  Also, for more info on LWI, go to www.water.cc.

Why water?

"But the scarcity at the heart of the global water crisis is rooted in power, poverty and inequality, not in physical availability."  - UN Human Development Report 2006

Water is a basic human need.  Clean water is so accessible to us in the West that I take for granted so often that there are over one billion people in this world that drink dirty water everyday.  Almost half of the people in developing countries are suffering from water-related health issues and water-related disease is the #1 killer of infants in developing countries.

Please consider joining me in bringing clean water to the people of Tanzania.  Community by community, we can work toward a world where clean water is available to everyone!
