Pledge to make a difference
We are participating in the Briggs & Al's Run & Walk for Children's Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 because we want to make a difference in the life of a child. Please help us reach our pledge raising goal. If ReGENCo Toshiba offers a matching program, this would be an outstanding opportunity to show your support by encouraging your employees to both participate and collect pledges of their own or by pledging for a participant.
Your support will help Children's continue to provide the top-notch care kids deserve. Briggs & Al's Run & Walk for Children's Hospital is the oldest run & walk in the state of Wisconsin and one of the largest combined 8K events in the United States.
Because of outstanding community support, corporate sponsorships and active pledgeraising, the event has raised more than $10.3 million over the past 30 years.
Children's is growing up
Pledges raised this year will benefit our west tower addition. As one of the nation's busiest pediatric hospitals, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is growing faster than expected. Children's needed additional beds and clinic space to continue to provide the best care for kids.
The12-story tower opened in March 2009 and includes 60 new private rooms, with space for additional rooms in the future. It also allowed us to convert ALL partient rooms to private spaces. In planning the tower, Children's recognized the need to make each room warm, comfortable and welcoming. The new patient rooms have many features designed to make each family's stay as easy as possible.
We appreciate any contribution you make and thankyou from the bottom of our hearts.
A tradition begins
Throughout its history, the event has raised more than $10.3 million to help Children's Hospital of Wisconsin provide medical care, conduct research to enhance pediatric care, advocate on behalf of children, and educate medical professionals and the community about issues related to children's health. In 2008, more than 15,700 participants raised more than $1 million for Children’s Hospital. Be a part of one of Milwaukee's longest running traditions!
The Al's Run success story
Briggs & Al's Run & Walk owes its success to a wellspring of community support that has benefited Children's Hospital in countless ways. The late Marquette University basketball coach Al McGuire, the event's founder, was deeply committed to supporting many Children's Hospital programs. Proceeds from the first run and walk went toward the prosthetic limb bank. In past years, the undesignated money raised by this event has benefited the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. However, this year undesignated money for Briggs & Al's Run & Walk will support the west tower expansion project, which opened March 30, 2009. The west tower was added to meet the current and future needs of all our patients. Other programs at Children's Hospital receive support when pledgeraisers designate their gifts.
Briggs & Al’s Run & Walk for Children’s Hospital is the oldest run and walk in the state of Wisconsin and one of the largest combined 8K events in the United States. Since its beginning, Briggs & Al’s Run & Walk for Children's Hospital has raised more than $10.3 million for Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, with 100 percent of the gifts and pledges going directly to help children.
We are grateful to our generous sponsors, team captains, walkers, runners, volunteers and pledge raisers who make a tremendous difference in the lives of children year after year.
