I have had many questions about whether or not this is the same walk we have had the last 2 years in Mount Juliet and the answer is YES!
Most of you know that me and my sister, Angie, have Huntington's Disease and that our children have a 50% chance of also having the disease. There is still no cure. There are meds to help with some of the symptoms. But I will tell you that the last year has been a roller coaster of panic attacks, anxiety and depression while trying to find the "right combination " of drugs. It has been hard on our family. I hate being the mom who can't drive my kids to school or church. I hate that I have panic attacks while shopping. It breaks my heart that one of the places that makes me the most anxious is at church. This is not the way I want my children to remember me.
As a mother, my greatest fear is that one of my children will have the disease. I pray that never happens. And that is why I continue to support the exciting research that is being done all around the world. The Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) supports Centers of Excellence, research that is very promising, and HD families. The HD Team Hope Walks are one of the biggest fundraisers that HDSA does and that is why we are asking for your help. We would love for you to walk with us. If you are planning on attending the walk, you need to register. You can register and donate on this site. I can't thank you enough for your love and support.
