Dear friends,
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
As we begin this journey and new chapter in our lives, we have found that we can spread our love and happiness to the less fortunate. Ankita has lived in Kenya most of her life where she has witnessed extreme poverty. Living in the U.S. and sharing of her experiences, has given us a greater understanding of all the things we take for granted. There are children in Kenya that are in need of medical care and we would like to help them.
With that said, we invite you to help us celebrate our union by helping us to raise money to save the lives of children in Kenya. Children's HeartLink's involvement in East Africa spans over twenty years. Over the years this support has included the provision of a cath lab, on- and off-site training of many cardiac team members, establishing a temporary residence for families of charity patients, the formation of a charitable foundation, the financial support for charity cases, the implementation of a rheumatic fever prevention program in four out of eight provinces of Kenya, and the provision of many critical medical supplies and equipment. Children's HeartLink continues to support the treatment of charity cases, provides critical supplies and periodically sends a volunteer pediatric cardiac team.
When Amit and I met, we instantly hit it off. We became the best of friends and over time, discovered we were soul mates. We have been through a lot together and have been very fortunate to have had each other, and people who love us in our lives. We have been blessed with everything that we have possibly dreamed of.... well not everything, otherwise life would be boring:)
The picture on the left is of
13-year-old Jerry Ochieng who had a mitral valve replacement at the age of nine.
He is one of the many children who received life-saving care at Nairobi Hospital, a partner site of Children's HeartLink. Today, Jerry is a healthy and happy teenager. He ranks 4th in his class, likes math and wants to be a pilot when he grows up. In Jerry's face, you can see he's filled with hope for a future full of possibilities.
Kenya is near and dear to our hearts and we'd like to see more children like Jerry grow up to provide a better future for themselves and the country.
Please join our quest to save children in Kenya! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
If you wish to donate offline, please make checks payable to: Children's HeartLink, 5075 Arcadia Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55436. Write Amit and Ankita in the memo line.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Love,
Amit and Ankita
