I am so excited to be running the 2009 ING New York City marathon!  In conjunction with my training and running the race, I will be raising money for National Stroke Association.  I hope you will support this organization, and my efforts to complete my first marathon!  100% of your tax-deductible donation will go to National Stroke Association's mission.

I chose National Stroke Association because I and my family have been deeply affected by stroke.  I am so privileged to be able to help other families and individuals who are dealing with the effects of stroke.  I will be running in honor of my aunt, Peggy Rowland, a stroke survivor.  I will also be running in memory of my grandmother, Dorothy Allen Waters and my great aunt McArva Allen Hunter, both of whom suffered strokes during their lifetimes.  My grandma, who passed on in February of this year, is pictured with me in the photo.
