Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am raising money for Special Olympics, it is a charity very close to my heart and I really appreciate your support!!
The first Special Olympic Summer Games was held in Chicago in 1968 and this year I intend to run the Chicago marathon on the 7th October 2012 in aid of the Special Olympics.
To raise as much as possible I am organising a number of events including a Quiz Night at Banbridge Rugby Club on the 17th August 2012 at 7.30pm, a raffle, which will be drawn on the night (we have fantastic prizes!!) and a few other exciting wee events are taking shape. I have been truly overwhelmed by everyone's support and enthusiasm so far and it will be my motivation for every mile I run!
Special Olympics is a great charity as it provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports giving children and adults with intellectual disabilities continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
My training so far has certainly improved my physical fitness, and the encouragement and support from friends and family has been amazing! But to run a marathon with my dear friend Lisa Lally, back in the city of Chicago - is a lifetime highlight! Lisa, I know we will both look back and say - did we really do that? - awesome!! As we encourage each other along our journey, remember its all really really worth it!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
