It's that time of year again when I reach out for donations to my favorite cause.
It has been quite a year. Heavy snow in October a skiers dream. Then a skiers nightmare no snow for weeks and little snow when it comes and warm weather to make the man made snow melt. Sunday River has really out done themselves with the cards they were dealt this year.
The only dependable thing was a constant stream of students requesting lessons.
Maine Adaptive Sports and Recreation formerly Maine Handicapped Skiing continues to provide a completely free skiing experience to individuals with physical disabilities.
VETERANS NO BOUNDARIES was a GREAT SUCCESS this year. The program gets more ENERGY and ACTIVITIES each year. It allows veterans to experience a FAMILY SKIING event. So many veteran programs only focus on the individual and miss the opportunity for family bonding.
Our Annual Ski-a-thon is the largest single day fundraising event in Maine. Please help us retain the record.
There are few things in life that bring us pure JOY. Teaching others the sport that I LOVE is one of those things for me. Please help me continue with my passion by making a generous contribution.
If it was truly just teaching them to ski I would not be as passionate. What I see every time I volunteer with students/veterans is a renewed zest for life. I see individuals that can finally move gracefully without having to struggle with gravity. I see a desire to take on new challenges. I see students acknowledged based on their ability to ski and not based on their disability.
Please support a community where every challenge is met with possibilities and people give generously without regard for personal acknowledgement.
P.S. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
