Hey there, my name is Anthony Collins and I was born with congenital heart defects. Congenital heart defects is a common birth defect. It has been a long road, where I have had four heart surgeries. I am doing great now, with visits to my cardiologist every six months.

Although I am doing well, I cant run as fast or as long as other kids do at my school. I also have alot of scars on my chest that make me feel a little self concious. I am asked alot of questions about them and alot of kids dont understand why I cant keep up.

There is a place called Camp Taylor that is a summer camp for kids with heart defects. Camp Taylor is somewhere where I fit in great. Everyone has the same scars, and we all run a little bit slower than everyday kids. I feel so comfortable there, all the kids know what I have been through and we can share stories of our experiences. Camp Taylor also helps to educate us on our individual birth defects so we can understand how our hearts work differently from other people.

I love going to Camp Taylor because they have alot of different actvities to do. We make arts and crafts, we go swimming, and we have dances. We can also ride horses, and climb rock walls. My favorite part of Camp Taylor is the rope climbing. Its a little scary, but I will try to do my best this year. I am looking forward to seeing all my old friends and making new ones.

I am allowed to go to camp for free each year. This year the camp is having a hard time getting donations. It costs 800 dollars per kid at camp. I would like to help raise money for Camp Taylor because it has changed my life and I look forward to it all year long. If Camp Taylor was not around I would feel so sad.
