I am a 27 year old flat-footed asthmatic who loves running, and for those of you who didn't know, on Patriots Day 2012 I am planning on completing the 116th Boston Marathon. I ran this race back in 2009 and finished the marathon with a time of 4:52 and I am really looking to improve on that time this year. In order to accomplish this goal I have joined the Boston Bruins Foundation Marathon Team and help support a great organization.
The Boston Bruins Foundation is an awesome group that provides grants to organizations that meet the standards of its mission, where it is best able to enrich the community, concentrating in the areas of Athletics, Academics, Health and Community Outreach. Some of the organizations that have benefited from The Foundation are Skate to Educate, City Kicks, the Bird Street Community Center, Jumpstart, Floating Hospital, The Home for Little Wanderers, ScoutReach and Cambridge Family YMCA.
The Foundation often does more than just donate money to these causes; in many cases the people behind the Foundation are active participants in helping these causes. An 18-member BBF team that included Kim Jacobs and former Bruins Terry O'Reilly and Don Sweeney, cycled the 192-mile route of the three-day Pan-Mass Challenge in August 2006. Patrice Bergeron, a native of Quebec, visited a French Class at a suburban middle school to talk to the students in both French and English.
I have a goal of raising $4,000 for The Foundation and run the marathon. Please help me by making donations, either in person or on this page.

I will be hosting a fundraiser at Cagney's Pub (214 Washington St. Quincy, MA 02169) at 2pm on SUNDAY MARCH 11, 2012 . Tickets are $15 dollars and can be purchased in advanced or at the door. There will be some fantastic food, drinks, music and some great raffel items that include BRUINS TICKETS to a game this season! Hope to see you there!
