Bird-a-thon 2011
Team Daley-Cagnon takes to the field again!
Thank you for visiting our Bird-a-thon fundraising page. We are participating in the Mass Audubon Bird-a-thon 2011, a 24-hour birding event during which our team will count as many Massachusetts bird species as we can, raise money for important conservation programs, have fun outdoors and compete for prizes!
This Year Roger and April will be joined by Rogers son Nathan, 13. We will be birding Cape Cod again and we are Ramped up to increase our bird count from past years. We have been stuck at around 110-113 species for the past couple of years. Our aim is at least 120 and we have mapped out a strategy.
We will bird the local areas for specific species on Friday evening from 6pm to 9 or 10 pm. Our first targets will be the easies (get 'em out of the way) and night birds: owls, whip-poor-wills, herons, woodcocks, and evening singers.
Saturday we have mapped out a variety of areas up one side, across and down the other side of Cape Cod. On the way back in we will stop at several locations for specific birds in well know areas. We will be dead tired, but happy campers. Especially if we meet our bird count and fundraising goals.
This is hands down THE most fun- fundraiser we have ever participated in.
Our feathered friends in Massachusetts depend on you to provide funding to conserve the habitat they need for their nests and to help educate their human neighbors as well. We appreciate your generosity and support and hope you will make a donation to our page!
Thanks to all for all you do! Every dollar counts and goes to a fantastic cause!
