January, 2010: It is hard to believe it was only six months ago when we were honored to present $20,000 worth of donations to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation at the Ride for Kids fundraiser. Here we are again, starting over and doing our part in raising money for children suffering with brain tumors...including our dear friend, Rosie.
Over the past six months, we have seen seasons change, but we have also seen things change with Rosie. While you can look at her and think, there is nothing wrong with this little girl (her smile is just infectious!!)...there actually is. We found out a few months ago that Rosie's tumor became "active" again, and therefore, she has started a 24 month chemo plan, again. Also, with the uniqueness of her disease, comes unique side affects and challenges. Rosie's combination of medical issues is so rare, the doctor's don't know what to expect with each path they take. With that said, Rosie has been experiencing complications from some of her medications. Again, to look at this six year old girl, you would never think there is anything wrong, but she fights every day to get better...and that is why we want to fight with her. I just think that every dollar we can donate to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is another dollar to help find a cure for Rosie.
Last year, Joanne, Rosie's mom threw out a challenge to me to raise $20,000. I didn't know if I could do it, but I was up for the challenge. I knew the state of the economy, and wondered how we could attain this goal, but for the 2nd year in a row, we hit our goal. Then, at last years' ride, Joanne looked at me and said, are you ready for $40K??? My response was, bring it on!! So, we have once again doubled our goal and are shooting high, so your support is needed more than ever. In addition to Rosie, Joanne is such an inspiration to me, I don't want to let her down. She always has a positive attitude, so I will take her strength and work toward our goal.
Numerous children are affected by this disease everyday. While treatment and cures have advanced, one child affected is one too many. So once again, we hope that you can help us to raise money to support a foundation that is near and dear to us...the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. We understand the economy is still affecting us all, so we ask that you donate what you can, no matter how much it is, it is helping. Please forward this link on to anyone you know that can also help support us.
