Thank you for visiting Area 9's fundraising page for the 1st ever Highlander Polar Plunge Celegration for Special Olympics!  Various Special Olympics athletes and volunteers from the New River Valley will take the plunge into the New River at Dudley's Landing (Bisset Park) at 12:30 on Saturday, February 20th (this is a change from 2/6 due to weather!).   You can support these bold plungers by donating through this site.  Or, join us and set up your own fundraising page.

Special Olympics changes lives by benefiting more than 9,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities across our Commonwealth and impacts communities in many powerful ways. Here in the New River Valley we offer year round activities in nine different sports to more than 500 athletes.  Your donation to this event is vital in making transformation possible and changing views about people with intellectual disabilities. We use sports as a catalyst to change society’s perceptions and treatment of people with intellectual disabilities. This is an incredible cause, and I hope that you will come down and watch our athletes and volunteers take part in this great event.
