First, I'd like to thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Second, I'd like to invite you to read a little bit about my life as a Citizen Schools Teaching Fellow. I have such fun, sweet students who daily come up to me and give me a hug even when they don't have my class. It feels so good to have so many students look forward to seeing you and working with you in class that day! It makes me feel like I've contributed a fun, safe, and healthy environment for them.
We get to do a lot of fun, teambuilding activities that show the students the importance of working in groups and using each others' strengths to their advantages. It's also great to see the students work on creative projects in their apprenticeships that they ultimately get to show off in front of countless individuals and in new venues, such as presenting their designs for Boston city spaces, or a cultural music performance in front of an auditorium full of new faces! I loved seeing my students WOW me with their drumming skills that they learned in just 10 short weeks, and showing it off as if they had been doing it for years.
We're in the middle of our second round of apprenticeships and students are learning how to be Creative Cooks, be Urban Gardeners, and learning all about the history and skills of Basketball!!
This was just a glimpse into my life as a Teaching Fellow. It's so much fun getting to work with such great kids and being able to introduce them to fun, educational activities!
If you can contribute anything at all, please feel free to do that through this simple, fast and totally secure website. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! I do mean anyone! Who knows? Some of your friends may even want to look into working with Citizen Schools in the future!!
So, How Can YOU Make a Difference?
-
$80 provides one semester of materials and support for one apprenticeship team. An apprenticeship is a focused learning time between 12 students and a community volunteer with a professional skill to share. Some examples of the 104 apprenticeships at our school campuses in Boston this spring include architecture, solar cars, law and mock trials, networking, healthy cooking, astronomy, video game programming, community problem solving, sports management, and self-defense.
-
$150 provides one month of food and supplies for special family events at our schools such as family potlucks, sports and game nights, or a dinner with the principal. We do these to welcome parents, teachers, and school administrators to come together and share in the learning that their children and students do each day.

$250 provides one semester of support for a school's culminating WOW! event where students showcase their apprenticeship learning for their community of families, friends, volunteer Citizen Teachers, school staff, and the public. Let me know if you're interested, and I'd be happy to send you an invitation to attend this spring!
