7500 miles through Africa
On January 12, 2008, I will begin a 7500 mile bike ride with Tour d'Afrique. We begin in Cairo at the base of the pyramids, and end 4 months later in Cape Town.
The purpose of the Tour is three-fold:
1. To foster international relations
2. To generate money to charities, in particular the Tour d'Afrique Foundation which gives bikes to doctors
3. To raise awareness that bicycles are an important transportation option to combat global warming
I have also decided to raise funds for the JF Kapnek Trust. It's mission is:
To support and promote excellence in medical and health-related education and research in Zimbabwe, and to play a leading role in addressing the HIV/AIDS pandemic; with special emphasis on preventing new pediatric infections and supporting orphans, vulnerable children and families affected by AIDS.
Learn more about the Trust at www.JFKapnekTrust.org, and please donate what you can.
