Why we are running & walking:
Appalachia Service Project is a home repair ministry through which volunteers and their staff repair homes for low-income families in rural Central Appalachia. Their goal is to make homes warmer, safer and drier, while offering transformational experiences for volunteers and families alike.
Each year, ASP achieves its goals with the assistance of nearly 15,000 volunteers. The Home Repair Ministries Summer Program is especially valuable for high school youth groups and their adult advisors.
This year South Congregational Church sent 26 High School age young adults and adult leaders to Gary West Virginia to work with ASP. It was the fourth summer in a row that they have sent a group to participate in ASP. They all come home with a deeper appreciation of who they are, the blessings that they have and how important it is to serve others. For many it deepens their faith.
Each group is responsible for raising all travel expenses, lodging, food and also must support the cost of supplies used in the home repairs. Approximately $20,000 is needed for each trip.

Our "Run for the Hills" Team ASP is one of the many fundraising events that is undertaken to reach the goal.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
