Thank you for visiting our personal fundraising page. Our cousin, Dorothy (Lopes) Bakare, was diagnosed with Leukemia 4 years ago after giving birth to her daughter Aliyah.  After facing numerous chemo treatments and hundreds of hospital stays, she succumbed to the disease on May 5, 2007 at the young age of 30.  She fought as hard as she could, but lost the battle to the cancer that plagues so many every year.  Dorothy had been an avid supporter of causes like this one before she got the disease herself. Her attitude and strength are such an inspiration to our family and to everyone who came in contact with her.  She was a great mom, daughter, sister, aunt and cousin. Though we miss her deeply, her vivacious spirit lives on.  We will continue in our efforts to keep her memory alive.  Please sponsor our family, as we walk in her honor.  Many thanks for your support to our fundraising efforts.
