This is our 9th annual walk for Scleroderma. Through your generous donations, and great support from our wonderful doctors we have come a long way. When I was first diagnosed there was very little known about this disease and for treatment of its diverse side effects. Over these years we have seen great progress. Though there is no cure to this date, and it is still not known what causes Scleroderma. New treatments for many devastating side effects of this disease have been developed.
Financial support for Scleroderma from these past Walkathons have greatly aided the research that has resulted in amazing new treatments and a greater understanding of the disease. Please know that your donations are important in providing improved quality of life to many who have this disease.

Scleroderma is a chronic, often progressive autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks it own tissues. It falls into the same category as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Sjogren's syndrome, and multiple sclerosis (MS)
The disease, which literally means "hard skin", can cause thickening and tightening of skin, and in some cases serious damage to internal organs including lungs, heart, kidneys, esophagus, and gastrointestinal (GI) tract.
Scleroderma can very a great deal in terms of severity. For a few individuals it is merely a nuisance. For others it is a life threatening illness. For most, it is a disease that affects how they live their daily lives.
