Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
As many of you know about me I have had 4 blood clots over the years in my right arm and leg. My last one was a serious deep vain (DVT) clot which are the ones if not detected can travel to the heart or lungs and cause death. My first clot was at the age of 21 in my right leg. Lindsey who is 21 found out a month ago that she had two in her left leg. We are blessed that both of us were aware enough to seek medical attention, but there are many out there that don't and more people die from blood clots that travel to their lungs, than from breast cancer, AIDS, lung cancer and car accidents combined. Here are some facts:
- In Minnesota as many as 15,000 people develop a blood clot and 5,000 die each year
- In Minnesota, up to 14 people die each day from a blood clot
- Nationally, as many as 900,000 people develop a blood clot and 300,000 die annually
- Blood clots are the most preventable cause of hospital deaths.
Thank you so much for your support in a cause which touches Lindsey and I and I am sure some of you out there. We are doing this walk in hopes to help others get education to know when to seek help immediately if they believe they have a clot. Your donation can help lives.
Again many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
